windy weekend

Photo

Took the big wheels for a blast over the SDW to Eastbourne on Sunday. I have been sick for the best part of 2 weeks and started to clime the walls so thought sod it I’m off to clime some hills!! The Kinesis 29 prototype is still amazing although after 2 weeks off the bike I was wishing for some front suspension, However on the return the wind had reach biblical status, so I was glad of every gram saved and best possible power transference to cut through it, and let the big wheels roll me home.

116miles

116miles

Well that’s a Sunday ride 116miles ride around London sportive, great views, well run and some good chat especially with other rides on kinesis bikes. One happy chap was the very proud owner of a TI Granfondo who I met at about 80miles in and was telling me, he felt like it was only 10miles. All I can say is my racelight was faultless over the distance and climbed the Olympic cause like it was flat, well I know Box Hill isn’t Alpe d'huez but it’s the best London has to offer. I’m  not normally a sportive rider but it’s a good cause and I’m doing another 100miler next Saturday, then off to Spain to climb La Concha for http://www.justgiving.com/Elliott-G which is a 3hr clime but more concerning its on foot not a bike eek!

big love

Kmp29er

Sneaky peep at the New Kinesis 29er “race” version. I loved the other prototype (A LOT) and this is lighter and stiffer so I can’t wait to give it a spin. It’s Only a guess but I’m usually pretty close, fully geared with peddles I reckon it’s about 21lbs with the carbon fork, so even with suspension this is going to be a F Fast 22lb big wheel rolling machine J. I  just need to get out the office and finish building it, more picture and feedback will follow.

good to be evil

The colour black and white is often used to suggest good & evil , I guess it’s true the Race light certainly is a good bike and rocks some devilishly good looks. Check out 2 new builds ready for next month’s 115mile  Ride around London sportive http://www.accesssport.org.uk/ride-around-london

29er on my top step

I know we go on about how great our bikes are, and we are obviously a little biased, however I have to bang on about the 'coming soon'Kinesis 29.  It truly is fast with pinpoint handling and made an amazingly confident 22lb race bike. It certainly helped contribute in getting the team to the top step at the Brighton BIGDOG race at the weekend.
It’s not a twitchy race bike. It's well planted and can bulldoze its' way down any gnarly descent. Usually in a race I find myself in traffic and think, 'ah well I can sit behind during this descent and take them on the next flat or climb'. This wasn’t the case on the big wheels, I simply couldn’t hold it back. Everybody else just seemed pedestrian and my braking fingers were worn out. I was having to take some sketchy lines that I wouldn’t normally have ever done on a 26”wheel but somehow the bike just instilled confidence and simply rolled, finding  grip wherever I put it! I could go on but I won’t as the bike isn’t available yet and it’s just a big tease, watch this space.
